About Brightage Foundation
BrightAge Foundation was established on 24th April 2019. The foundation’s first initiative, “MAGIC”, was launched on 25th December 2019. This activity is being carried out in Bhisi village of Chimur Taluka, Chandrapur District.
This initiative is managed under the guidance of Dr. Ramesh Kumar Gajbhe and with the strong support of IRS Officer Abhay Nanavare, through the Director of the Foundation. The real builders of this initiative were the students of the first batch of MAGIC, along with Foundation President Srikant Ekude, Vilas Chaudhari, and Walmik Nannavare.
While laying the foundation for this initiative, there was a genuine need for a peaceful environment suitable for study. Abhay Nanavare had correctly envisioned that the premises of Matoshree Vriddhashram could serve this purpose. This area and its rooms were made available free of cost by the respected Dr. Ramesh Kumar Gajbhe. In addition, he provided many essential facilities such as water, electricity, beds, and cooking materials required for the hostel. As a result, it became much easier to establish the initiative.
Initially, it was necessary to clean the premises. Abhay Nannavare personally took the initiative and participated in the Shramdan conducted on 17th November 2019. The students of Brilliant 20’s, led by our team member Prafulla Dhoke from Alesur, enthusiastically participated. On 25th December 2019, students from the Tribal Government Hostel, Nagpur, contributed their efforts. Many tribal students and community members from Chimur Taluka also volunteered and helped make the area neat and well-organized.
Several items were subsequently required. At that time:
- Two almirahs were donated by Late Bhaurao Ghodmare.
- Electronic items were donated by Sadashiv Nanavare.
- Tables, chairs, and computer sets were donated by Ashish Bharde from Pune.
- Gas cylinders, stoves, and grain storage bins were donated by Prakash Barekar from Shimla.
- Flat repairs and renovation work were undertaken by Geetatai Nannavare.
- Books were donated by Dr. Harsha Nannavare, Sharad Nannavare, Praveen Labhane, Anshujatai Garate, and Sankalp Foundation.
Abhay Dada took complete responsibility for the expenses of the first two months and bore them entirely. Ajay Nannavare and Prashant Ekude gifted a Xerox machine, Devrao Jambhule donated a projector, Haridas Srirame donated a speaker, and Sushil Nannavare and Sharad Gaikwad donated an inverter.
The number of helping hands continued to grow and is now close to 6,000 supporters. Thanks to these donors, a well-equipped library, reading room, canteen, and accommodation facilities were established.
On 8th March 2023, International Women’s Day, a residential study centre for girls was started. At present, 25 girl students are participating in the MAGIC initiative.
So far, more than 200 students have benefited from the MAGIC initiative, and seven additional initiatives have also been launched.
